All the staff at Cromer High recognise that coming to a new school can be an anxious time for students and parents. Over the years we have developed a programme to help children and adults get to know the school, well in advance of the first day of term.
Seven opportunities to get to know the school:
An Open Evening enables children and their parents to meet with students and staff of the school and to have their first look around Cromer High.
Parents are encouraged to make follow-up visits to see the school in action during a working day. Often accompanied by their children, they can spend time with a senior member of staff before being conducted around the school.
In Spring term (October) all Year 6 students are invited to an Induction Programme, lasting two days, when lessons and the school’s routines are experienced. This is when many new students meet their friends for the next five years for the first time.
Also in June, new students and their parents are invited to attend the Family Evening, when more information concerning curriculum and pastoral issues is given. This is also a golden opportunity to purchase school uniform.
New students’ first few days in September receive special consideration, with Year 7 students spending time with their tutors and familiarising themselves with their new environment.
Soon after the Autumn half-term, parents have the opportunity to come into school and meet with their child’s tutor to share information and establish further contact.
In the Spring Term of Year 7, parents will have the chance of accompanying their child to lessons for a day.
